John Waters (born Castlerea, Co.Roscommon, Rep. of Ireland in 1949) is a columnist with The Irish Times and former editor of Magill. His career began with the political/music magazine Hot Press. John has vociferously campaigned on fathers' rights in Ireland blank">http://www.dads-house.com.
He is also the father of a daughter named Roisin with singer _Sinéad O'Connor.
John Russell Waters (born 8 December, 1948, London, England) is a famous film, theatre and television actor, best known in Australia, where he moved to in 1968.
His first big break was in musicals, playing Claude in a Sydney production of Hair in 1969, then Judas in Godspell. Among his most famous roles are Sergeant Robert McKellar in the 1976 television series Rush (famously revoiced and parodied by The D-Generation as The Olden Days on their comedy programme The Late Show), Capt. Alfred Taylor in the 1980 film version of Breaker Morant, and Pontius Pilate in the Australian concert production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Many Australians still remember him best from his nearly 20 year stint on the Australian series of Play School (1972 - 1991).
In 1988 John Waters won the AFI Award for Best Actor for his role as Tom Garfield in the Frank Howson written film Boulevard of Broken Dreams.
John is also an accomplished musician, and toured for many years with his one man show Looking Through a Glass Onion, a tribute to John Lennon featuring music, words and images.
John Waters also appeared on stage with the production The Sound of Music, in which he played the part of "Captain von Trapp".
When still doing Play School, he has been narrating children's video trailers for ABC TV.
He stars in advertisements for Bird's Eye frozen food products. He also joined the cast of All Saints in June 2006 as Mike Vlasek, the new Head of Surgery. Waters has been touring around Australia through August and September starring in a critically acclaimed role alongside Brett Tucker in 'The Woman In Black'.
John will participate along with fellow All Saints star John Howard in a Celebrities vs Supporters Match for the Central Coast Mariners Football Team, before the Central Coast vs Sydney FC clash on Saturday December 1st.
John Waters was an Ontario political figure. He represented Middlesex North in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as a Liberal member from 1879 to 1894.
Waters served as reeve for East Williams Township from 1868 to 1875 and was warden for Middlesex County in 1875. In 1893, he introduced a bill which would have given women the vote in provincial elections.
