John Patrick Thomson (born Patrick Francis McAleer, 2 April 1969) is an English comedian and actor, known for his roles in The Fast Show and Cold Feet.
John Carl Thomson (born October 1, 1973 in Vicksburg, Mississippi) is a free agent starting pitcher who last played for the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball. He is a 1991 graduate of Sulphur High School in Sulphur, Louisiana. He went undrafted out of high school and pitched for McNeese State University (Lake Charles, Louisiana) in 1992 and Blinn Junior College (Brenham, Texas) in 1993. The Colorado Rockies selected him in the seventh round of the June 1993 amateur draft and he made his major league debut for the Rockies on May 11, 1997. 2007 is his eleventh major league season. In addition to the Rockies, he has played for the New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Atlanta Braves and Kansas City Royals and also pitched in the Toronto Blue Jays organization from April through June of 2007.
John Thomson (January 28, 1909 – September 5, 1931) was a football player for Celtic and Scotland who died in an accidental collision during a match.
Thomson was born in Kirkcaldy and grew up in the mining community of Cardenden in Fife. He was a member of the Church of Christ, a small Protestant evangelical church. He was very keen on football, and became the first choice goalkeeper for Celtic and Scotland.
Air Chief Marshal Sir Charles John Thomson GCB, CBE, AFC usually Sir John Thomson (born 7 June 1941, died 10 July 1994) was a senior officer in the Royal Air Force.
Educated at Campbell College in Belfast, Thomson entered RAF College, Cranwell in 1959.
Notably he served as Officer Commanding No. 41 Squadron in 1976 and Officer Commanding RAF Bruggen in 1981.
In 1987 he was appointed Air Officer Commanding No. 1 Group and in 1989 he became Assistant Chief of the Air Staff. He became Commander-in-Chief Support Command in 1991. He was Commander-in-Chief Strike Command from 4 November 1992 to 30 June 1994.
In July 1994 he became the first Commander in Chief of the new NATO command, Allied Forces North-western Europe. However, only days after taking up this post he became ill and rushed to hospital at RAF Halton where he died.
John Thomson (14 June, 1837 – 7 October, 1921) was a pioneering Scottish Victorian photographer, geographer and traveller. He was one of the first photographers to travel to the Far East, documenting the people, landscapes and artifacts of eastern cultures. On returning home, his work among the street people of London cemented his reputation, and is regarded as a classic work of social documentary which laid the foundations for photo journalism. He went on to become a fashionable Mayfair portrait photographer of High Society, gaining the Royal Warrant in 1881.

John Thomson (November 20, 1780 – December 2, 1852) was a United States Representative from Ohio.
Born in Ireland, Thomson Immigrated with his parents to the United States in 1787. He completed preparatory studies. He studied medicine, and in 1806 moved to New Lisbon, Ohio, and practiced. He served in the Ohio Senate in 1814, 1815, and 1817-1820 and in the Ohio House of Representatives in 1816.
Thomson was elected to the Nineteenth Congress (March 4, 1825 – March 3, 1827). He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1826 to the Twentieth Congress.
Thomson was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-first and to the three succeeding Congresses (March 4, 1829 – March 3, 1837). He was not a candidate for renomination in 1836. He resumed the practice of medicine. He died in New Lisbon (now Lisbon), Columbiana County, Ohio, December 2, 1852. He was interred in New Lisbon Cemetery.
John Thomson or Thompson (ca. 1690 – 1753) was born in Ireland and became a minister in the Presbytery of Philadelphia, later the Synod of Philadelphia. He served as a missionary in both Virginia and North Carolina, where he died a natural death in 1753. He is buried in the cemetery of Centre Presbyterian Church in Huntersville, NC.
