John Paul Murphy (born 31 May 1950), Australian politician, has been an Australian Labor Party member of the Australian House of Representatives since October 1998, representing the Division of Lowe, New South Wales. He was born in Dunedoo, New South Wales, and was a public servant before entering politics.
He is the Parliamentary Secretary to Labor Leader Kevin Rudd, however, supported Simon Crean and Mark Latham in the leadership ballots of 2003 and Kim Beazley in the 2006 leadership ballot.
He is married to Adrianna Murphy and they live in Russell Lea.
John Murphy (1786-September 21, 1841) was the Democratic Governor of the U.S. state of Alabama, serving two terms from 1825 to 1829. Born in 1786 in Columbia, North Carolina, he also represented Alabama in the United States House of Representatives from 1833 to 1839.
Under date of April 2, 1834, John Quincy Adams records in his diary that Congressman James Blair "shot himself last evening at his lodgings ... after reading part of an affectionate letter from his wife, to Governor Murphy, of Alabama, who was alone in the chamber with him, and a fellow-lodger at the same house." Diary (New York: Longmans, Green, 1929) p. 434.
Murphy died in 1841 in Clarke County, Alabama.
John Murphy (born 1959), sometimes credited as "Jonh Murphy", is an Australian drummer, percussionist and multi-instrumental session musician who has played in numerous Australian and British post-punk, ambient and industrial music groups.
He was educated at Scotch College, Melbourne, Australia, where he played in the school orchestra as well as Scottish pipe bands. Murphy's first major band was NEWS the seminal Melbourne punk band in which he performed as "John Smith from the Suburbs". From the late 1970s until the mid 1980s he collaborated with vocalist Ollie Olsen in the post-punk bands Whirlywirld, Hugo Klang, Orchestra of Skin and Bone, NO, and Max Q.
He formed, joined, or collaborated with, the following acts: The Associates, Dumb And The Ugly, Sooterkin Flesh, The Slub, SPK, Lustmord, Whitehouse, Death In June, Sword Volcano Complex, Browning Mummery, Current 93, Kraang, Sleeping Pictures, Naevus and NON, in addition to playing on sessions for Nico, The The, Gene Loves Jezebel and Shriekback.
He composed the song "Spit" that was used as the theme in the 2002 Apple Switch ad campaign.
Today he records solo under the name Shining Vril, as part of industrial electronic trio Knifeladder, and as a member of folk-noise group Foresta Di Ferro with Marco Deplano and Ostara's Richard Leviathan. He splits his time between living in Australia and the UK.
John Murphy (born 1965) is a British film composer. He is a self taught multi-instrumental musician who began his career in the 1980s working notably with The Lotus Eaters, Thomas Lang and Claudia Brücken.
Born in Liverpool, England, Murphy began composing music for films in the early 1990s and scored his first hit with Leon the Pig Farmer. Together with former OMD member David Hughes he worked on several successful British movies, enjoying particular success with the soundtrack to 1998's Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
Since 2000's Snatch and Shooters, Murphy has been mainly based in Los Angeles. He has produced several prominent and diverse successes, including City by the Sea and Danny Boyle's box-office success 28 Days Later and its sequel 28 Weeks Later. Awards for his film music include the Silver Award (1st Prize) at Cannes, a British D & AD Award, and a BMI Award. He has also composed and produced music for commercials, including campaigns for Reebok, Nike and Apple. Other excerpts from his scores have been released for advertising, in particular "In the House - In a Heartbeat" from 28 Days Later.

Murphy was made captain of Fitzroy in 1973, a position he held until he left the club at the end of the 1977 season after 214 games and a good career playing across half-forward and in the midfield. His departure was due to internal disputes with the club over his comments over some players that he thought should have been discarded from the club.
In 1978, he moved to _South Melbourne playing 23 games in a season and a half. He again changed clubs late in the 1979 season, moving to North Melbourne where he played his first ever finals match. He retired from the VFL in 1980 after injuries struck.
In 1981 Murphy was appointed captain-coach of Ulverstone in the Northern Tasmanian Football League, where he enjoyed a fine season, winning the Wander Medal.
From 1993-1998, John Murphy was coach of the Box Hill Football Club and is the Club's longest serving coach. He coached the Club to its first Division One grand final in the VFA in 1994, in which Box Hill was defeated by Sandringham by the narrow margin of 9 points. He received life membership of the Box Hill Football Club in 1998.

Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Murphy became a Liberal party candidate for the Annapolis Valley—Hants electoral district in the 1988 federal election. He lost to Progressive Conservative candidate Pat Nowlan.
His second attempt for the riding succeeded in 1993 as he defeated incumbent Nowlan (now an independent) and new Progressive Conservative candidate Jim White. In the 2000 federal election, Murphy would campaign in the riding now restructured as Kings—Hants, only to be defeated by Progressive Conservative candidate Scott Brison. Murphy has not attempted to return to Parliament since his term in the 35th Canadian Parliament.
John Murphy (born 18 October 1976) is an English professional footballer, currently playing for Chester City.
He is in his second spell with the club, having left first time round to join Blackpool in 1999. He came through the youth ranks with Chester and made his first-team debut in 1994-95. He remained with the club until the eve of the 1999-2000, when he moved up to Division Two by joining Blackpool, where he enjoyed a long and successful seven year stint that included three victories at the Millennium Stadium. Chester were to greatly miss Murphy's presence, as they were relegated in the first season after his departure when they struggled to find a successful partner in attack for Luke Beckett.
Murphy rejoined Chester from Cheshire neighbours Macclesfield Town, whom he joined from Blackpool in January 2007 after making a loan move permanent. On January 6, 2007, during his loan spell, Murphy scored Macclesfield's goal in their 6-1 FA Cup Third Round defeat against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to briefly bring the tie level .
He rejoined Chester on the June 29 2007 . His first league game back at the club saw Murphy feature in the starting line-up in the goalless draw with Chesterfield on August 11 2007, with his first two goals back at the club coming in a 4-0 demolition of Dagenham & Redbridge a fortnight later. Almost inevitably, he scored on his return to Macclesfield in a 2-1 win for Chester on September 29 2007.
John Joseph Murphy (born July 19, 1953) is a former backstroke and freestyle swimmer from the United States, who won the gold medal in the Men's 4x100m Freestyle Relay at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, West Germany. At the same tournament, the 19-year old also collected a bronze medal in the 100m Backstroke.

Murphy is a financial market analyst and works in the field of technical analysis which is in its purest form is the study of price movement in markets with regard only to historical prices and volumes traded, without taking into account fundamental information that permeates and surrounds the markets such as company statements, interest rates or market supply and demand. He is BA (economics) and MBA (Fordham University, NY).
He is considered the father of modern technical analysis and has authored several bestselling books, including Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets which is regarded as the standard reference of technical analysis and has been translated into eight languages and has become a standard text book for the subject. It is used as the primary text in 30 American Universities and is the main source of information for the test given by the Market Technicians Association to become licensed as a Chartered Market Technician (CMT). In 1992, he was given the first award for outstanding contribution to global technical analysis that was ever presented by the International Federation of Technical Analysts. In 2002, he was the recipient of the 2002 Market Technicians Association Annual Award. His latest book, Intermarket Analysis (Wiley, 2004), is an update of his 1991 edition of the same title which created a new branch of market analysis emphasizing market linkages. Murphy emphasizes the use of Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) to implement asset allocation and sector rotation strategies as well as global trading.

Born in Cork Murphy first tasted success in 1887 when ‘the Rockies’ won the very first Cork Senior Hurling Championship, however, due to a dispute Blackrock were denied the chance to represent Cork in the very first All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. Two years later in 1889 Murphy captured two more county titles in 1889 and 1891, however, once again Cork’s quest for All-Ireland glory faltered. In 1893 Blackrock won their fourth county title with Murphy serving as captain. This victory opened up the club to represent their native-county in the All-Ireland trail. Murphy later guided Cork to a Munster victory over Limerick, before trouncing Kilkenny in the All-Ireland decider at the Phoenix Park. He retired from hurling shortly after this victory.
John Murphy is an American sportscaster from Buffalo, New York.
Murphy is best known for his association with the Buffalo Bills, where he currently serves as the team's radio play-by-play announcer. From 1984 to 1989, and again from 1994 to 2004, Murphy served as the Bills' color analyst, with longtime play-by-play man Van Miller.
In addition to the Bills, he also served as commentator for the Buffalo Bisons, Canisius College Golden Griffins, Buffalo Bulls and Niagara University Purple Eagles in the 1980s.
Murphy served as sports director at WBEN from 1984 to 1992 and hosted a talk show on the station until 1995.
