John Dye (b. John Carroll Dye in Amory, Mississippi, January 31 1963) is an American actor, most famous in the role of Andrew on Touched by an Angel, opposite Della Reese and Roma Downey. He also appeared in the 1996 series Promised Land and as 'Doc Hockenbury' on Tour of Duty.
John Cooper James Dye (born July 24, 1942 in Gillingham) is a former English first class cricketer. He made his debut in 1962, with Kent and played with them until 1971. The following season he moved to Northamptonshire and stayed there until his retirement in 1977. He also spent a year in South Africa with Eastern Province.
He has two brothers Jamey and Jerre. Jerre is also an actor.
He is an avid College Football fan.
He wears a ring on his right hand that was a gift to him from his maternal grandfather, whom he adores. It is a ring that has been in his family for years and belonged to his great grandfather.
His favorite TV show as a child was "Johnny Quest" and his favorite movie was "The Wizard of Oz."
His parents are Jim, who was a furniture manufacturer, and Lynn, a homemaker. They raised him and his two younger brothers as devout Methodists.
In his spare time he likes to play tennis and pool.
When he originally started college, he was planning to be a civil rights lawyer.
When he was in Jr. High school, he wanted to be an architect.
Got his big break with Taco Bell commercials ... In the commercial he had toy chickens stuck all over his jacket.
His brother Jerre Dye, who also is an actor, is the artistic director of a local theatre group called Voices of the South.
