John A. Burton is a co-founder of the nonprofit environmental organization World Land Trust, and has been its CEO since it was founded as World Wide Land Conservation Trust in 1989. He has previously held offices like the Chief Executive Officer of the Fauna and Flora International, and Chairman of the TRAFFIC unit of World Conservation Union (then International Union for the Conservation of Nature) in 1975. He was also the founding chairman of the Bat Conservation Trust.

John Burton is a Labour Party councillor in County Durham, England. He is a member of Sedgefield Borough Council, representing the ward of Fishburn and Old Trimdon. . However, he is most notable for being the constituency agent of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who represented the Sedgefield constituency from 1983 until standing down as Prime Minister in 2007.
John Stratford Burton (born November 27, 1927) is a former Canadian politician, who represented the electoral district of Regina East in the Canadian House of Commons from 1968 to 1972. He was a member of the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation and its successor, the New Democratic Party.
Burton was also the CCF's candidate in Melville in the 1957 and 1958 elections, and the NDP's candidate in Melville in 1962, in Regina City in 1965, in Regina East in 1972 and 1976, and in Wascana in 1997, but was not successful in those elections.
