James Stuart "Jim" Gilmore III (born October 6, 1949) is a Republican and was a one term Governor of Virginia from 1998 to 2002. He ran a brief campaign for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination, but in July 2007 became the first major GOP candidate to leave the race, citing fund-raising problems.

He is currently a candidate for the United States Senate seat being vacated by John Warner.
