Jesse White (born June 23, 1934) is a Democratic American politician. He is currently the 37th Secretary of State of Illinois, the first African-American to hold this position.
White was born in Alton, Illinois. He attended Alabama State University, where he played baseball and basketball, and he graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1957. He served in the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army from 1957-1959. In May 1995, White was inducted into the Southwestern Athletic Conference Hall of Fame. He was an all-city baseball and basketball player at Chicago's Waller High School (now Lincoln Park Academy) and was inducted into the Chicago Public League Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in June 1995. In 1999, he was inducted into the Alabama State University Sports Hall of Fame.
In 1959 White founded the Jesse White Tumbling Team and played professional baseball in the Chicago Cubs organization, though he never appeared with the major league club.
White was elected to the Illinois General Assembly in 1974 and served for 16 years. He was elected Recorder of Deeds of Cook County, Illinois in 1992 and re-elected in 1996. White was elected Secretary of State of Illinois in 1998, was re-elected in 2002 and again in 2006.
Jesse Jackson White (born 9 January, 1988 in Brisbane, Australia), better known as Jesse White, was drafted to the Australian Football League club the "Sydney Swans" on November 25, 2006. The Sydney Swans used pick 79 to snare him.
Jesse stands at 196cms and was drafted from the Australian state of Queensland. A former basketballer who represented Queensland at Junior Levels, he quit Basketball at under 16s level to concentrate on getting drafted but was hampered by injuries in 2005, not realising his dream until 2006.
Jesse is seen a long term prospect for the Swans and due to the Swans current playing strength, it is unlikely that Jesse will play Senior Football this year outside of the Pre-Season.

Has served as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for Pennsylvania's 46th House district since 2007. The district includes portions of Washington, Allegheny and Beaver Counties.
Lovable, laid-back Jesse White made acting seem fun and easy. He was born Jesse Marc Weidenfeld in Buffalo, New York, and raised in Akron, Ohio. He made his first amateur appearance on the local stage at age 15. Before breaking into professional theater in the 1940s, he held many different jobs, including selling beauty supplies and lingerie. Jesse got his start in vaudeville and burlesque, and eventually reached Broadway in 1943, and the following year he played the rascally, gruff-mannered asylum attendant in "Harvey", starring Frank Fay. This role made him famous; Jesse went on to appear with James Stewart (I) in the movie version of this play (Harvey (1950)) in 1950. The 1950s was the decade that Jesse made the transition to the new medium: television. As a TV regular, he did something that had never been done before--he appeared regularly in two shows at the same time: in "Private Secretary" (1953) and "Make Room for Daddy" (1953)t(This record stood for 23 years until Richard Anderson (I) appeared simultaneously on "Six Million Dollar Man, The" (1974) and "Bionic Woman, The" (1976)). The earliest TV appearance of Jesse's that is regularly rerun is a 1961 episode of the sci-fi series "Twilight Zone, The" (1959), in which he played (prophetically enough) the Repairman. Jesse would make guest appearances on dozens of TV shows, and appear in 60 movies, always playing a lovable rascal. Some of his last movie appearances were in the sci-fi movies Pajama Party (1964) and Ghost in the Invisible Bikini, The (1966). Then the 50-year-old Jesse seized a terrific career opportunity: from 1968-1989 he would be TV's "Maytag Repair Man" in a long series of commercials. For this it is said he made several hundred thousand dollars a year, for just a few days' filming. Even though he was semi-retired during this time, Jesse appeared in a dozen movies, his last film being Matinee (1993), which was an homage to some of the 1950s-1960s sci-fi films of which he had been a part. Jesse always seemed to be having as much fun acting as the fans did watching him.
