Jeff Richards, born Richard Mansfield Taylor , (November 1, 1924 - July 28, 1989) was a professional minor-league American baseball player with the Portland Beavers before becoming an actor. He was sometimes credited as Dick Taylor and Richard Taylor.
He is best known for his role as Benjamin Pontipee in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954). Following this performance, he tied with George Nader and Joe Adams for the Golden Globe Award award as the year's most promising male film personality. Despite this, his acting career soon declined.
He was married to Vickie Taylor and they had one child before they divorced.

Jeff Richards attended Las Lomas High School. One of his first jobs was at a Walnut Creek plumbing company. He left California to attend the University of North Carolina. After leaving the school, Richards traveled across the country as a stand-up comedian. Once he performed at a 13 year-olds birthday party for $50. Finally, he performed at Caroline's on Broadway and on late-night TV talk shows. He joined "Saturday Night Live" in the 2001-2002 season as a featured player. He joined the main cast this year. His characters include; Drunk Girl and infant pop-star "Baby-K." His impressions include; Bill O'Reilly, Gary Busey, and David Letterman.
Was a professional baseball player before he began acting, and many of his early movie roles reflect his earlier sports career.
After leaving the US Navy in 1946, Richards played baseball for the Portland (Oregon) Beavers and the Salem (Oregon) Senators. A torn ligament temporarily ended his playing days and while recovering he visited Hollywood, was screen tested, and signed to a movie contract.
Richards met his second wife, (a physical education teacher), while attending a bullfight with Hugh O'Brien in a Mexican border town.
