James Horan (b. December 14, 1954 in Louisville, Kentucky, U.S.) is an American character actor who has appeared in many television programs and films. He has starred in several soap operas, including Guiding Light as Det. Kirk Winters in 1981, Another World as Denny Hobson, and The Edge of Night.
Horan also appeared in four of the Star Trek spin-off series. He appeared twice in Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1993, first as an alien named "Jo'Bril" in the episode "Suspicions", and later as "Lieutenant Barnaby" in the episode "Descent". In 1997, he appeared on Star Trek: Voyager as "Tosin" in the episode "Fair Trade" and on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine as a Jem'Hadar named "Ikat'ika" in the episodes "In Purgatory's Shadow" and "By Inferno's Light". Horan had a recurring role in the first two seasons of Star Trek: Enterprise as the enigmatic figure whom fans called "Future Guy".
Horan's television guest appearances include roles on Remington Steele, Zorro, Melrose Place, Lost and Highlander: The Series. Recently, he appeared on a season 6 episode of 24.
In addition to his television and film work, Horan has provided voices for several video games, including several Star Trek and Star Wars games. He voiced Smaug in the 2003 video game adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit. He voiced Major Cooper in Age of Empires III. He voiced Darkham in Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits. Also he voiced Scar in Kingdom Hearts II, Doctor Strange in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, and Slim Cognito in the Ratchet & Clank series. He also provides the voice of Paul Rawlings in Clive Barker's Jericho. He provided the voice of Long Feng in the Avatar: The Burning Earth video game. His most recent video game appearance was as Harvey Moiseiwitsch Volodarskii in No More Heroes
James Horan (May 5, 1911 - August 1, 1986) born in Partry, County Mayo, a late Parish Priest of Knock. He is most widely known for his successful campaign to bring an airport to Knock, his work on Knock Basilica, and is also credited for inviting Pope John Paul II to visit Knock Shrine in 1979.
His wife, Stefania Bronzoni, is a translator of Italian/English. They met at a Star Trek convention in Italy in 2004, and were married in late April 2005 at the Doe Run Inn in Brandenburg, Kentucky, near Horan's hometown.
