Ivan Dixon (born April 6, 1931 in New York City) is an African American actor and director. He helped change racial stereotypes in his film and TV roles. He was active in the Civil Rights movement, and president of Negro Actors for Action. After a long and celebrated career as an actor and director, he was the owner-operator of radio station KONI-FM in Maui. In 2001 he left the islands for health reasons and sold the radio station in 2002.
