Iron Eagle II is a 1988 action film about a joint United States/Soviet task force formed to counter the threat of an unnamed Middle Eastern country. The task force is led by US Air Force Colonel (briefly promoted to Brigadier General during the film) Charles 'Chappy' Sinclair (Louis Gossett, Jr.). The Middle Eastern country is threatening both superpowers with nuclear ICBMs. As the task force attempts to accomplish its goals, it must overcome political sabotage as well as cultural and personal grudges. US Air Force pilot, Captain Matt Cooper, (Mark Humphrey) is an integral part of the task force.
Iron Eagle II is the sequel to the 1986 film Iron Eagle and itself was followed by two sequels: Aces: Iron Eagle III and Iron Eagle IV. This was the final movie in which Jason Gedrick reprises his role as Doug Masters before being replaced by Jason Cadieux for Iron Eagle IV.
Chappy Sinclair is called to gather together a mixed Soviet/U.S. strike force that will perform a surgical strike on a massively defended nuclear missile site in the Middle East. Chappy finds that getting the Soviet and U.S. Pilots to cooperate is only the most minor of his problems as he discovers someone in the Pentagon is actively sabotaging his mission. As they begin their assault, Chappy finds that a nuclear strike has been ordered should they fail, which will catch his forces on the ground next to ground zero. Written by John Vogel
