"In Too Deep" is the fourth track on the 1986 Genesis album Invisible Touch. It was released as the second single from the LP and went to #3 in America and #19 in the UK. The B-side of the single was the instrumental "Do the Neurotic". It would be the band's final hit single until "No Son Of Mine in 1991.
The video for the song features the three band members playing on a minimalist set comprised of steps and platforms. Tony Banks plays a grand piano, although the recording itself is mainly electric, while Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins mime acoustic guitar and vocals respectively.
A performance of the song was included on the 1992 live album The Shorts.
A version of the song was covered on the kid oriented show, Kids Incorporated blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okZKNDMeRf8, with the lyrics changed to more of a friend's standpoint rather than a lover ("love" is replaced with "like"). Also, the singer (_Rahsaan Patterson) is singing to another male pre-teen cast member (Richard Shoff), which some have commented as being rather "creepy".
In a 2007 interview with the website Genesis- The Movement, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford remarked that In Too Deep may make its way onto the setlist for the North American leg of the Turn It On Again tour. It was not played on the European portion, but said this song may replace Ripples, as In Too Deep was a bigger hit in America than Europe and vice versa. Ultimately, however, the set list was not changed for the North American tour.
"In Too Deep" is the second single from the album All Killer No Filler by the Canadian punk rock band, Sum 41. The song is about trying to break up with someone who's just always complaining before you can't get out.

The video features Pete Burns in an underwater scene, sitting in a clam shell and also on a swing.

It was released as the album's fourth single but was not successful, not charting in Australia. The song was later covered by American singer Belinda Carlisle, produced by David Tickle for her sixth studio album A Woman and a Man. Her version was much more successful charting at number six in the UK and number eleven in Australia accrediting gold by ARIA.
