Huw Stephens (born 1981 in Cardiff) is a radio presenter currently broadcasting shows on BBC Radio 1.
Stephens joined Radio 1 at the age of 17 in 1999 as part of the station's new regional output where he hosted the Wales opt-out with Bethan Elfyn, he became the youngest ever Radio 1 presenter at just 18 years of age.
In 2005, Huw finally gained a national slot when he became one of the replacements for the late John Peel as part of the station's One Music strand, which was intended to keep the spirit of Peel's show going. Huw now broadcasts in a twice weekly slot. He also stands in for Steve Lamacq, Zane Lowe , Rob da Bank and Colin Murray whenever they're on holiday.
Huw is a fluent Welsh speaker and as well as Radio 1 he is also a presenter of BBC Radio Cymru's music strand C2, he also presents Bandit, a television show on Welsh language channel S4C which showcases Welsh language music talent.
Huw also presents the Radio 1 "Huw Stephens Introducing..." (A.K.A. Best Of Unsigned) weekly free podcast.
In 2005 Huw became the compere and DJ for the main stage of The Reading Festival.
In 2006 Huw curated a stage at the inaugural Latitude Festival.
Huw also writes a weekly music column for The Western Mail - the National newspaper of Wales.
In 2007 Huw established a new music festival for Cardiff. The Sŵn Festival took place on 9-11 November across 13 venues in the city. The next Swn is on 7,8 and 9th November 2008.
