High Incident was a police drama television series produced by DreamWorks Television for the ABC network. The show was created by Steven Spielberg (an admirer of the 1968-75 NBC/Universal series Adam-12), Michael Pavone, Eric Bogosian and Dave Alan Johnson. It first aired on March 4 1996. A total of 32 episodes were filmed.
The ensemble show focused on the everyday stories of patrol officers in the fictional Los Angeles County of El Camino. It was regarded among the more realistic television depictions of suburban police officers. Although it received good reviews and fair ratings, the show was often shuffled between time slots. It was cancelled after the end of its second season in May 1997, due to its lower ratings against NBC's Friends on Thursday evenings.
The series featured early starring work by Cole Hauser and Lisa Vidal.
A fast paced look at life for the officers of the El Camino Police Department, High Incident takes the viewers into the trenches with the street police officers, where the war on crime is being fought, one criminal at a time, and the casualties are mounting up. Written by Brian Junkin
