"Heartbreak Hotel" is a rock and roll song performed by Elvis Presley, with Bill Black (bass), Scotty Moore (guitar), D.J. Fontana (drums), Floyd Cramer (piano) and Elvis on rhythm guitar as the main supporting musicians. Recorded in January 1956 in Nashville, the song introduced Presley to the American national music consciousness. It was released as a single with the b-side song "I Was The One" on January 27 1956. "Heartbreak Hotel" became the first No.1 pop record by Elvis and was the best selling single of 1956.
"Heartbreak Hotel" is a 1999 single from American R&B/Pop singer Whitney Houston, the first official single released from Houston's My Love Is Your Love album. The song also featured R&B singers Faith Evans and Kelly Price accompanying her. "Heartbreak Hotel" peaked at number two on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Chart, number one on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, and was certified Platinum. The track received two nominations at the 2000 Grammy Awards: Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance by a Group or Duo losing both to "No Scrubs". by TLC. The video was nominated for Best R&B Video at the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards.
It holds the distinction as being one of only three songs to be on both discs for Houston's 2003 Greatest Hits collection, in it's original and remixed formats. It is absent on the 2007 Ultimate Collection.
