Harry Baur (born 12 April 1880 as Henri-Marie Baur in Montrouge, Seine (Hauts-de-Seine), Île-de-France - died 8 April 1943 in Paris was a French actor. He was killed by the Gestapo during World War II.
Baur gave an acclaimed performance as the composer Ludwig van Beethoven in Abel Gance's 1936 biopic Un grand amour de Beethoven (Beethoven's Great Love). He also acted in Victorin-Hippolyte Jasset's 1909 silent film, Beethoven, among nearly 80 other films between 1909 and 1942
Buried in the exclusive "St.Vincent" cemetery Paris, France.
Journeyed to Germany to make a movie, but after completing it he was arrested by the Nazi authorities - apparently because his wife was Jewish and suspected of engaging in anti-Nazi activities in France - and tortured for information. He was eventually released, but was found dead shortly afterwards.
