Hack is a television series that aired on the CBS television network from 2002 to 2004. The show is aired in the UK on ITV3. It is currently (as of November 2006) showing in Australia on Channel 10, late Saturday evenings.
The series centers on the life of a former cop, Mike Olshansky (David Morse), who was fired for corruption, working as a taxi driver in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He considers it his duty to make up for his past wrongs by helping everyone the police won't help.
M.D.T. is Mobile Data Terminal. G.R.M. is General Radio Message, what other services call an All Points Bulletin.
Ukee Washington is a real newscaster. He is on KYW 3, the CBS affiliate in Philadelphia.
Olshansky lives on the 4400 block of Larchwood Street in West Philadelphia.
The taxi used in the series is transported between locations through the city on a flatbed tow truck.
The taxi used in the show actually has a medallion on the hood as required by the Public Utility Commission.
The building that acts as the front of the detective bureau is actually Philadelphia Health Department District Health Center #3. It is located on 43rd Street between Baltimore Avenue and Chester Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia.
Across from the District Health Center that stands in for the detective bureau is a statue of the author Charles Dickens. He is seen posing with one of his characters, Little Nell. It is the only statue of its kind in the world.
