The Getaway is a 1972 crime and action film directed by Sam Peckinpah and starring Steve McQueen, Ali MacGraw and Ben Johnson. The film is based on the novel by Jim Thompson, with the screenplay written by Walter Hill. A box office hit earning $26 million at the theaters, the film was one of the most financially successful productions of both Peckinpah and McQueen's careers. It was remade in 1994 as The Getaway.
Getaway is Australia's longest-running and most popular holiday and travel television programme. Debuting on 14 May 1992, it is currently broadcast on the Nine Network and W. Its former main competitor was The Great Outdoors on the Seven Network.
The first season initially only looked at only Australian resorts but by 1993 had expanded to look at overseas destinations.
The Getaway is a 1994 remake of the 1972 film starring Steve McQueen. The movie stars Alec Baldwin, Kim Basinger, Michael Madsen, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jennifer Tilly and James Woods. The movie was directed by Roger Donaldson, who also directed The Recruit, Thirteen Days, Dante's Peak & Species.

Doc McCoy is put in prison because his partners chickened out and flew off without him after exchanging a prisoner with a lot of money. Doc knows Jack Benyon, a rich "business"-man, is up to something big, so he tells his wife (Carol McCoy) to tell him that he's for sale if Benyon can get him out of prison.
