Get Smart is an American comedy television series that satirized the secret agent genre. Created by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry, the show stars Don Adams as Maxwell Smart, Agent 86 of CONTROL, a secret U.S. government spy agency.
Originally sponsored by Lever Brothers (makers of Lifebuoy soap) and R. J. Reynolds (makers of Salem cigarettes), Get Smart aired on the NBC television network from September 18, 1965 to April 12, 1969, after which it moved to CBS for its final season, running from September 26, 1969 to September 11, 1970. A total of 138 episodes were broadcast. The show was quite popular in the mid-1960s, and continues to enjoy a cult following as it is often rerun around the world in syndication.
The series won seven Emmy Awards and was nominated for an additional fourteen, as well as two Golden Globe Awards.

Shooting began February 2007, and was continuing as of June 2007. Some scenes were shot in Montreal, Quebec, Canada between June 11 and June 13, 2007 at 1507 Docteur-Penfield Avenue and at McGill University. It is rated PG-13 by the MPAA "for some crude humor, action violence and language."
When this series aired on Fox, it was only the second time a live-action TV franchise had aired on four different mainstream TV networks (the first was "Tom Corbett, Space Cadet" (1950)). The original series seasons 1-4 aired on NBC, season 5 aired on CBS, the 1989 reunion movie Get Smart, Again! (1989) (TV) aired on ABC, and this new series, as previously mentioned, aired on Fox. Since then, no other live-action television franchise has accomplished this feat.
Jennifer Love Hewitt and Rachel McAdams were considered for the part of "Agent 99" before it went to Anne Hathaway (I).
Maxwell Smart is a bumbling secret agent, assigned by his "Chief" to foil KAOS' latest plans for taking over the world. Invariably, Smart's bumbling detective style lands him in hot water. Lucky for him, his faithful assistant "99" is there to bail him out. Written by Murray Chapman
