The song "In Heaven" is sung by the Lady in the Radiator in the movie Eraserhead, and the song has seeped into popular culture to a small extent. For example, the song makes up part of the Modest Mouse song Workin' on Leavin' the Livin', and has been covered live and on record by the Pixies. The song was known as their usual finale to their set. The Rubella Ballet song Slant and Slide ends with the chorus to 'In Heaven.'
The song was also sampled in the Mellow Man Ace song "Heaven".
The song was written and performed by Peter Ivers for the film Eraserhead. Frank Black of the Pixies also references the song in one of his solo record songs "I Gotta Move" and Peter Ivers' death. One of the most memorable covers of the song was made by Tuxedomoon with Winston Tong that was released in 1987 on "Pinheads on the Move". Other notable bands to have covered the song live include Bauhaus (during their last show no less), DEVO (sung by Booji Boy as the second-to-last song in the set, followed by an insane genocidal rant by the character), and Faith No More.
