Fort Sill is a United States Army post near Lawton, Oklahoma, about 85 miles southwest of Oklahoma City.
Today, Fort Sill remains the only active Army installation of all the forts on the South Plains built during the Indian Wars. It is designated as a National Historic Landmark and serves as home of the U.S. Army Field Artillery and the Field Artillery Training Center (FATC).
As of early 2005, Major General David P. Valcourt was the Commanding General at Fort Sill. As of late 2005, Major General David C. Ralston is the Commanding General, U.S. Army Field Artillery Center and Fort Sill, Commandant, U.S. Army Field Artillery School. As of late 2007, Major General Peter M. Vangjel is the Commanding General, United States Fires Center of Excellence and Fort Sill and Commandant, U.S. Army Field Artillery School.
