First Lady is a term applied to the wife of an elected male head of state. Development of the title is credited to the United States, where it was first used in 1849, when United States President Zachary Taylor called Dolley Madison "First Lady" at her state funeral while reciting a eulogy written by himself.
The First Lady is the fourth studio album by American R&B singer Faith Evans, released by Capitol Records on April 5, 2005 in the United States and Canada and on May 13, 2005 (see 2005 in music) elsewhere. It was her highest debut to date, opening at number 2 on the U.S. Billboard 200, and eventually certified gold for more than 500,000 copies sold.
