Finding Forrester is a 2000 movie, written by Mike Rich and directed by Gus Van Sant, about a teenager, Jamal Wallace, played by Rob Brown, who is accepted into a prestigious private high school. He also befriends a reclusive writer, William Forrester, played by Sean Connery.
Anna Paquin, F. Murray Abraham, and Busta Rhymes also star in supporting roles. Matt Damon makes a brief cameo appearance near the end of the film. Principal photography was shot entirely in Manhattan , the Bronx, and Brooklyn (many Mailor Academy scenes were filmed at Regis High School on the Upper East Side of Manhattan), with some scenery and pick-up shots made in suburban Toronto, Ontario, during post-production. Parts of the film were also shot in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
A now infamous line from this movie spawned an entire website phenomenon. At some point during the movie, William exclaims the phrase, "You're the man now, dog!" This, when seen in the trailer for the movie, inspired what is now one of the most popular websites found on the internet today. This website is known as ytmnd.

Jamal Wallace (Robert Brown) is an inner-city kid from the Bronx who has an aptness at basketball and a genius at writing. While always a C student, Jamal comes to the attention of a prestigious New York prep school when he scores highly on his standardized tests. While Jamal is given a heavy load at his new school, both he and the school know that the real reason they took him on is for his prowess on the court. Befriended by fellow student Claire (Anna Paquin) and helped along by Pulitzer-prize winning author and recluse William Forrester (Sean Connery), Jamal pursues his dreams both on and off the court while overcoming obstacles placed by his bitter literature teacher. As Jamal is shaped by Forrester, he finds that he is changing the old writer as well, forcing him to confront his past...and his future. Written by Danny Silverman
