"Faith" is a song written and performed by George Michael and released on Columbia Records from his album of the same title in 1987. According to Billboard magazine, it was the top-selling single of the year in the US in 1988.
"Faith" is the title track from The Cure's third album Faith. Famous for having new lyrics performed in it at nearly every live performance, some range into being nearly twenty minutes long.
The most famous version of which is the so-called Tiananmen Square version performed on June 4, 1989. During the performance, Smith apparently got very upset about what had happened in China that day and started screaming in the middle of the song. The new lyrics he improvised were particularly disturbing.
It was also re-recorded by The Cure for iTunes in Summer 2005.
The Faith was an early American hardcore punk band, from Washington DC, with strong connections to the scene centered around the Dischord label. Despite of their short lifespan and limited Discography they were extremely influential on Emocore .
The band formed as a four piece in the Summer of 1981 and featured Alec MacKaye on vocals, who had formerly sang for the Untouchables as well as Michael Hampton of State Of Alert on guitar. After recording a demo, the band released a split LP with fellow D.C. hardcore band, Void. It was put out on Dischord Records, which was founded by Mackaye's older brother and Minor Threat vocalist, Ian MacKaye. It featured the song, "You're X'd" which addressed the straight edge philosophy popularized by Minor Threat and S.O.A.
In 1983 The Faith released an eight song twelve inch EP called "Subject to Change." It was produced by Ian MacKaye and showed the band progressing into more melodic territory with the addition of a second guitarist. Within a few months of recording the record the Faith broke up and three out of five members went on to join Embrace with Ian MacKaye on vocals. Guitarist Eddie Janney joined Rites of Spring and later was reunited with Michael Hampton for One Last Wish. Alec MacKaye would go on to sing for Ignition and then later the Warmers.
Their split LP with hardcore punk group Void was one of Kurt Cobain's favorite albums .
"Faith" is the fifth (but promotional only) and last single from Céline Dion's One Heart album. It was released on October 27 2003 in Canada.
"Faith" was written and originally produced by Max Martin, who wrote also for Dion her smash hit "That's the Way It Is" in 1999. The remixed version by the Original 3 was released as a radio single.
There was no music video made for the song.
"Faith" reached #4 on the Quebec Airplay chart and #37 on the Canadian Adult Contemporary chart.
Faith was the second single by the Nu Metal/Rapcore band Limp Bizkit. It appeared on the 1997 album, Three Dollar Bill, Yall$ and is a cover of the George Michael song, Faith. The video shows scenes of Limp Bizkit by their tour bus at the Family Values Tour 1998. It features Fred Durst and Wes Borland dressed up as their alter egos 'The Weapon' and 'The Liquidator' at the beginning, with Borland explaining that he "...hates Limp Bizkit.". Jonathan Davis from Korn also makes an appearance.
Music video released November 20, 1998 The song is followed by a hidden track, "Blind" which is 1:25 long (not to be confused by Korn's song of the same name.)
