Erol Alkan is a London-based electro DJ of Turkish descent. He was resident DJ and co-founder of London club night Trash. Trash was located at The End nightclub in Central London, and in its ten years (1997 - 2007) saw performances by Peaches, LCD Soundsystem, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Kills, Gonzales, Klaxons, The Rapture, Death From Above 1979, Electric Six and many more up and coming bands.
Erol Alkan released a series of mash-ups using the alias Kurtis Rush in the early 2000s, including a mix of Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You out of My Head" and New Order's "Blue Monday", which was performed by Minogue at the Brit Awards. Erol also uses the alias Mustapha 3000, and is half of the psychedelic rock act Beyond the Wizard's Sleeve. He has also produced B-Sides for The Long Blondes and Klaxons.
Erol Alkan has remixed tracks from artists including Mylo, Bloc Party, Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers and Digitalism, and his profile increased considerably during 2006, when remixes for Scissor Sisters, Justice and Franz Ferdinand helped earn him the Mixmag 2006 "DJ of the Year" award.
