Eric Kripke, creator of The CW's Supernatural, stated in an interview that the studio had recently been given permission to use Jason Voorhees in the third season of Supernatural. Jason is expected to appear in the tenth episode of the season, but he will not be the "real" Jason. Kripke explained that there will be a "twist" to how brothers Sam and Dean meet the Friday the 13th character. However, problems with attaining rights for the Jason Voorhees character fell through. Though Kripke also stated in an interview that although Jason Voorhees would not appear, a "masked" character somewhat resembling Jason would, in an episode down the track, which would look similar enough to the Friday the 13th villain, to please fans. Jason Voorhees was never put in the expected episode, "Dream a Little of Me."
