Eric Howard Carmen (born August 11, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.) is an American singer, songwriter, guitarist and keyboardist.

His greatest success came in the 1970s, first as a member of The Raspberries (who scored a major hit with their song "Go All The Way"), then with his solo career, including hits like "All By Myself" and "Never Gonna Fall In Love Again".

Eric Carmen (former singer of The Raspberries ) is best known for his 1976 song, “All By Myself”, the soundtrack for single women everywhere. This power ballad, penned by Eric, was based on a classical theme by Rachmaninoff. It was more recently popularised by Celine Dion and the familiar opening scene of Bridget Jone
