Enchanted April is a 1992 film based on the 1922 novel The Enchanted April by Elizabeth von Arnim. There is also a stage play by Matthew Barber, adapted from the same novel and presented on Broadway in 2003. The film was released by Miramax Films theatrically, but Paramount Pictures holds all other rights to the movie.
The play opened on Broadway in New York City, New York, USA on 24 August 1925 and had 32 performances. The cast included Elisabeth Risdon as Lottie Wilkins, Herbert Yost as Mellersh Wilkins and Alison Skipworth as Mrs. Fisher.
A Hollywood Reporter production chart listed Doris Lloyd, Charlotte Granville and Henry Armetta as cast members, but they did not appear in the movie.
Preview running times suggest the studio cut the film by at least 12 minutes before its release.
This film was one of RKO's biggest failures of 1935. This flop hastened Ann Harding's end as a top RKO star.
This slow-paced gem is about the civilizing influence of Italy on beleaguered Londoners both male and female and has it's own civilizing influence on the viewer. It's almost like taking a little mini-trip to Italy, a gorgeously filmed enchantment. Written by Anonymous
Four women rent a chateau on a remote Italian island to try to come to grips with their lives and relationships. They explore the differences in their personalities, reassess their goals, and reexamine their relationships in a sisterly fashion. Written by Ed Sutton
