Edward Charles Morrice Fox, OBE (born 13 April, 1937) is an English stage, film and television actor. He is generally associated with the role of an upper-class Englishman. He is known particularly for playing the title role in the film The Day of the Jackal (1973) and for his portrayal of Edward VIII in the television miniseries Edward and Mrs Simpson (1978).

Edward Fox (June 10, 1815—Dec. 14, 1881) was the fourth United States District Judge for the District of Maine.
A pre-eminent trial lawyer with an extensive practice, Judge Fox had served as City Solicitor for Portland, Maine and a state legislator prior to his appointment to the Court. A native of Portland, Fox served on from 1866 until his death in 1881. He was a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School.
Brother of James Fox (I) and Robert Fox (II). Half-brother of the actor Daniel Chatto.
Son of the actress Angela Fox and the agent Robin Fox. Grandson of the dramatist Frederick Lonsdale.
Father of Lucy Fox, the Viscountess Gormanston; the actress Emilia Fox and Freddie Fox.
Served in the Coldstream Guards.
Claims he has never worn jeans.
Uncle of actor Laurence Fox
Father-in-law of Jared Harris.
He was awarded the O.B.E. (Officer of the order of the British Empire) in the 2002 Queen's New Year's Honours List for his services to acting.
Graduated from RADA.

Performed with the Dundee Repertory company in the early 1960s with the likes of Michael Culver, Glenda Jackson and Nicol Williamson.
For many years a vocal supporter of the Conservative Party, in 2004 Fox switched his support to the UK Independence Party.
