"Easy" is a 1977 hit single by Commodores for the Motown label, from their fifth studio album, Commodores.
Written by Commodores lead singer Lionel Richie, the song, a slow ballad with country and western roots, expresses a man's feelings as he leaves his lover and ends their relationship. Since the narrator finds the girlfriend to be a bit of a drag, rather than being depressed about the break-up, he states that he is instead "easy like Sunday morning."
The single was released in the wake of the failure of the Commodores' single "Just to Be Close to You" at pop radio. Richie wrote "Easy" with the intention of it becoming a crossover hit for the group. "Easy" reached number-one on the Billboard R&B chart, and number-four on the Billboard Hot 100. Before "Easy's" success, the Commodores had primarily been a funk band, but the success of "Easy" paved the way for similar Richie-composed ballads such as "Three Times a Lady", and also for Richie's later solo hits.
"Easy" is the first single from Canadian musical group Barenaked Ladies' 2006 album, Barenaked Ladies Are Me. It was composed by Steven Page and Ed Robertson.
The song was first played for the public live at a 2005 Barenaked for the Holidays tour show on December 13. It was then released in 'Simlish' (a gibberish language used in the Sim series of video games by Maxis) in the Sims 2 "Family Fun Stuff" expansion pack.
On May 26, 2006, the album release dates were announced, along with the revelation of "Easy" as the leadoff single for late June (the announcement came from the band's German management, and was subsequently confirmed by the band's North American official websites). On June 6, the band announced a contest in which they provided the separate instrument tracks to "Easy" and asked fans to submit remixes of the songs. A 4-track split of the song (percussion and bass, guitars, keyboards, and vocals) was released for free on the band's myspace.com page, while their official website offered a complete "16-track" (11 tracks, 5 in stereo) download package for a small price, for a more thorough split of the song. This was the first release of any complete (English) studio track from Barenaked Ladies Are Me; though the final mixed track was not released.
On June 19, iTunes released a three-track single for the song "Easy", which also included "Wind It Up", and the version of "Home" from the All New Revue. This was the first release of any complete final tracks from Barenaked Ladies Are Me. On the same day, they also released two acoustic versions of "Easy"; one that was recorded while the band was mixing the album around May 4. It was released as part of a Nettwerk compilation called Indoor Picnic Music. The other was recorded at the band's All New Revue and was released for free on Nettwerk's Werkshop store site.
On August 8, a music video was released on the U.S. iTunes Store in a package with the audio track. The video is computer animated, but features the band's heads in "cutout" form as they enact a variety of children's fairy tales. It is the band's first video ever not to feature any visual performance of the song.
"Easy" is an electro-pop song written by Keisha Buchanan, Amelle Berrabah, Heidi Range, Jason Pebworth, and George Astasio for the Sugababes' first compilation album Overloaded: The Singles Collection (2006). Produced by Brio Taliaferro, and Orson members Pebworth, and Astasiois, it was released as the album's lead single on November 6, 2006 in the UK. The song reached the top ten in Bulgaria and the United Kingdom, and while entered the top thirty on most charts it appeard on, it also peaked within the top 20 in Denmark, Finland, Ireland and Norway.
"Easy" is the fourth single from Paula DeAnda's self titled album.
