Down is an American heavy metal band formed in 1991 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The band is a supergroup, comprised of members and former members of Pantera, Corrosion of Conformity, and Crowbar. The band comprises Phil Anselmo (vocals), Pepper Keenan (guitar), Kirk Windstein (guitar), Rex Brown (bass), and Jimmy Bower (drums). Since its inception, Down has released three studio albums and has gone on hiatus twice to focus on the members' respective bands.
"Down" is the third single from Blink-182's 2003 Blink-182 album. It was released in June 2004. The song peaked at #10 on the Billboard Modern Rock charts, but quickly fell off and was a mixed success. According to Tom DeLonge in the liner notes of the album, the song came from a picture he had in his head about a girl and a boy in a car with it raining outside (hence the 'Down, Down, Down, Down' chorus) and how much the boy wants to kiss her and make her stay (another reason many suspect for the chorus). It has also been said that this was an "ode" to Mark's ex-girlfriend, before he met his wife.
The song has been played live by DeLonge's band Angels & Airwaves as an intro to their first single The Adventure.
Travis Barker recorded the video with a broken foot.
