Douglas Steven "Doug" Heffernan (born February 9 1965 in Montreal) is a fictional character in the American situation comedy The King of Queens. The character first appeared in the sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond, and has appeared in other New York-based TV shows like Cosby and Becker. The role is played by actor Kevin James, whose stand-up comedy provided the comedic themes and general style of the show. The character was identified by the New York Times who called him an average joe.

The character lives in Queens, a borough of New York City with his wife Carrie Heffernan (Leah Remini), and his father-in-law Arthur Spooner (Jerry Stiller). Arthur almost always refers to him as "Douglas."
