Deadly Companion (aka Double Negative) is a 1980 Canadian mystery film based on the novel The Three Roads by Ross Macdonald.

Double Negative is a 1985 independent short comedy film "about a film-making prodigy who must protect his horror film - Coathanger Massacre - from the paws of his meddlesome producers, is an exceptionally promising first effort."

"The featurette, which [ Sam Irvin ] wrote, directed and produced, was a sharply-observed look at low-budget filmmaking."

The film was self-financed by Irvin and it was an official selection for the Sundance Film Festival.
