Doppelgänger was a 1969 British science fiction film directed by Robert Parrish. The film was released in the US as Journey to the Far Side of the Sun, a title by which it is now better known. The crew of a spacecraft journey to a previously unknown planet far side of the Sun, only to seemingly find themselves returning back to the Earth. The storyline is extremely similar to an hour-long episode of the Twilight Zone entitled, The Parallel.
Doppelganger (a.k.a. Doppelganger: The Evil Within) is a 1993 film starring Drew Barrymore. The story follows Holly Gooding (Barrymore), who moves from New York City to Los Angeles after being implicated in a murder. She is followed by what is apparently her evil twin. While in LA, she finds a room for rent by a writer and the two begin a love affair. After some strange occurrences, it becomes less and less clear whether the woman is in fact Holly or her Doppelgänger.
A planet is discovered in the same orbit as Earth's but is located on the exact opposite side of the sun, making it not visible from Earth. The European Space Exploration Council decide to send American astronaut Glenn Ross and British scientist John Kane via spaceship to explore the other planet. After a disastrous crash-landing Ross awakes to learn that Kane lies near death and that they apparently have returned to Earth, as evidenced by the presence of the Council director and his staff. Released to the custody of his wife, he soon learns things are not as they seem. Written by Doug Sederberg

To make things worse, he signs for arch-rivals Manchester City just before the Cup Final. Unknown to his adoring public, he has been kidnapped by crooked City boss Reggie Backhander, who has been creating experimental clones of great British footballers, but adding ape DNA to increase their strength and aggression. She moves into a room for rent by a writer (Newbern), and he begins having an affair with her, but after some strange things happen, he's not so sure if the affair is with her or her doppelganger.
