Bede Evelyn Dominick Elwes (credited as Dominick Elwes, Dominic Elwes) (b. 17 August, 1931 - d. 1975) was an English portrait painter.
Dominick Elwes is the son of well-known English portrait painter Simon Elwes (from the recusant Cary-Elwes family) and Gloria Rodd, daughter of Rennell Rodd, 1st Baron Rennell.
At age 26, Dominick married 19-year-old Tessa Kennedy in Cuba, escaping an English court order against their marriage. After returning to London, he spent 14 days in jail for contempt . His elopement with Kennedy in 1958 was a scandale célèbre, as was his suicide in 1975.
Elwes is the father of famed artist Damian Elwes, film producer Cassian Elwes, and actor Cary Elwes.
He was a best friend of Lord Lucan and was portrayed by Anthony Stewart Head in the 1994 British television movie The Trial of Lord Lucan.
