"Do Somethin'" is a single by Britney Spears, the second and final single taken from her 2004 (see 2004 in music) Greatest Hits: My Prerogative compilation. "Do Somethin'" was written by regular Spears collaborators Christian Karlsson and Henrik Jonback, among others, and was produced by the pair Bloodshy & Avant, also responsible for the hit "Toxic."
"Do Something" is the lead single from Macy Gray's debut album On How Life Is, released in 1999. The single contained no less than nineteen co-writers including Gray herself. The single contains several samples including OutKast's 1994 "Git Up, Git Out".
In the UK, "Do Something" became Gray's first charting hit on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at number fifty-one there, however, it remains her lowest charting single there to date. "Do Something" failed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 but managed to peak at number sixty-three on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart and number forty-three on the Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales chart.
"Do Something" was released on two CD formats in the UK. The CD single contained remixes of "Do Something", including collaborators such as Cee-Lo of Gnarls Barkley along with a non-album track "Rather Hazy".
"Do Something" was also used on an MTV Europe commerical advertising Summer Festivals throughout Europe in 1999.
