Dirty Work is a 1998 comedy buddy film starring Norm Macdonald and Artie Lange, and directed by Bob Saget. In the film, long-time friends Mitch (Macdonald) and Sam (Lange) start a successful revenge-for-hire business, and try to earn money for heart surgery for Pops (Warden). All goes well until they must do a dirty job for an unscrupulous businessman. In order to be paid, and expose their deadbeat customer, the pair hatch an outrageous revenge scheme of their own.
The film was the first starring vehicle for Macdonald and Lange, and the first film directed by Saget, who left his long-running role as host of America's Funniest Home Videos to begin a directing career. It is the last film appearance by Chris Farley.
The film received broadly negative reviews from critics, and received low box office returns. However, it has since become a cult favorite.
Dirty Work is a Laurel and Hardy short film comedy made in 1933. It was directed by Lloyd French, produced by Hal Roach and distributed by MGM.
Chimney sweeps Stanley and Oliver go about their job, reducing Professor Noodle's living room to a shambles in the process, while the mad doctor works in his laboratory perfecting his "rejuvination formula." Cackling with glee, the Professor demonstrates his success for the boys, dropping a duckling into the vat and winding up with an egg. There's a somewhat different type of regression, however, when Stanley accidentally knocks Oliver into the formula. Written by Paul Penna
Dirty Work follows three men who deal with our unpleasant business -- Russ, a bull semen collector, Darrell, a septic tank pumper, and Bernard, an embalmer. They take us into worlds that are right under our noses but we never see, providing services most of us depend on but prefer not to do ourselves. Unorthodox childhoods led them into these odd, intense careers, giving them uncommon insight into how the rest of us live. Darrell traces cultural trends from what he finds in septic tanks. Russ sees his job collecting semen from prize bulls as a way to help save the family farmer. And Bernard the "restorative artist" offers an irreverent look into how the modern death industry distances us from the dead we're trying to mourn. Above all, Dirty Work is the story of how three men discover their passion in our society's undesirable professions. Russ, Darrell, and Bernard don't just do our dirty work, they feel called to it. After meeting them, you will never look at their work or our world the same way again. Written by David Sampliner & Tim Nackashi
Film was originally going to be titled "Political Animal".
The film was also shot under the title "Southside."
Mitch and Sam have to come up with $50,000 and fast! The only problem is neither one can hold down a job. Mitch finds a way to money by exploiting the only talents the two have, by opening a "Revenge For Hire" business. Written by Colby Smith
