Dena Dietrich (b. December 4 1928, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is an American actress. Her many acting credits include the soap opera, All My Children, as well as many other television movies and programs.
She is best known, if not by name, for the campy 1970s commercials for Chiffon margarine as "Mother Nature". Whenever her character tasted Chiffon's butter-like margarine, she labeled it as butter. Upon learning otherwise, the commercials always ended with her causing a clap of thunder and adding ominously, "It's not nice to fool Mother Nature!", as the commercial ended.
She also played Bea Arthur's sister, Gloria, in a guest starring capacity on The Golden Girls.
Best known for her TV margarine commercial in which she utters the famous line: "It's not nice to fool Mother Nature!"
For several years she resided in the Fairfield County town of Newtown, Connecticut. There she lived on a tranquil, naturalistic property replete with ponds and streams surrounding a modern, Japanese-esque house befitting the domicile of TV's beloved "Mother Nature".
