Mugsy's Girls is a 1985 film starring pop singer Laura Branigan and Ruth Gordon about a sorority that travels to Las Vegas to enter a mudwrestiling competition in order to raise the money to save their house. Also released under the name Delta Pi , the film was released straight-to-video and to little success.
This is one of Gordon's final films (along with the three other films she made around this time that released posthumously), she plays the sorority house-mother who ends up wrestling at the end. The film also features genre stars Eddie Deezen and Kristi Somers. Although Branigan was quite famous as a singer by the time the filming began, she contributed no music to it, most songs were performed by fellow cast mate Joanna Dierck, who at one point was married to the film's director and writer Kevin Brodie.
The Delta Pi sorority is a sort of female Animal House. Constantly strapped for cash, they agree to travel to Las Vegas to participate in a mud-wrestling competition. Of course, this results in many hi-jinks, some even involving their octogenarian house mother. Written by Mike Konczewski
