"Deep" is a promotional single from Nine Inch Nails' for the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider soundtrack. Because this is a promo only single it has never been featured with its own official halo and the song "Deep" has never been released on any Nine Inch Nails album, or on any halo-numbered release, although it has its own video directed by Enda McCallion.
"Deep" is a song by Pearl Jam and the tenth track off of their debut album Ten. The music was co-written by guitarist Stone Gossard and bassist Jeff Ament and the lyrics were written by frontman Eddie Vedder. It is one of the most aggressive songs on the album and features the use of bass chords by Jeff Ament at the explosive beginning along with the guitar. Ament plays a twelve string bass on the track.
Lyrically the song is very dark and features the themes of suicide and drug abuse, which are a few of the common dark themes on the album.
The song was played live from its debut in 1991 up until 1995 when it was dropped. The song made a return appearance at the band's April 3, 2003 concert in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and was played several times on the band's 2003 tour, however it has not been played on any tour since. Live performances of the song can be found on the "Oceans" single and the "Dissident" single.
