David Vanterpool (born March 31 1973 in Daytona Beach, Florida) is an American professional basketball player who has played for various teams around the globe. He currently plays in Russia for Euroleague power CSKA Moscow.
Vanterpool played high school basketball at Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland and then later at St. Bonaventure University between 1991-1995. In 1995, Vanterpool was selected by the CBA draft by the Quad City Thunder. In October-November 1995, he played for a week in Italy for a Series A2 (second division) team Brescialat Gorizia. From 1997-1998 he played for the Jilin Tigers in China, and the CBA's Yakima Sun Kings during 1999-2001. He also played 22 games for the Washington Wizards of the NBA in 2000-01 and the ABA's Kansas City Knights in 2001-02. He has also been signed for a brief period by Detroit Pistons (2000) and New Jersey Nets (2001), but has not played any NBA games for those clubs. More recently, he played in Italy for Air Avellino (2002-2003) and for the Euroleague team Montepaschi Siena from 2003 through 2005 (he won the Italian championship in 2004 and Italian Supercup in 2005) before moving to CSKA.
