David Martin (born August 26, 1954 in Edinburgh) is a British Labour Party politician, and member of the European Parliament for Scotland.

He was first elected as a councillor in 1982, and won the Lothians seat in the 1984 European Parliament elections. He retained his seat, and following a reform of the electoral system, was in 1999 was elected to represent the whole of Scotland along with other members.

David Martin (22 December 1915 - 1 July 1997), known as an Australian poet, was born Lajos or Ludwig Detsinyi, into a Jewish family in Hungary (then part of Austria-Hungary). He used as well the names Louis Adam and Louis Destiny. He also wrote novels and short stories, and plays.

He was brought up in Germany, where he first became a communist at age 17. He then worked in the Netherlands, and emigrated to Palestine. He fought in the International Brigade in the Spanish Civil War, writing about this in My Strange Friend (1991); and then worked for the BBC in London from 1938. After World War II he settled in Australia from 1950, making his mark with the satirical poem Rob the Robber (1954). In 1991 he was given the Patrick White Award for important though under-recognised writers.

David Thomas Martin (July 9, 1907 – May 15, 1997) was a Republican politician from western Nebraska who served three terms in the United States House of Representatives from 1961 to 1974.

Martin was born in Kearney, Nebraska and graduated from Dartmouth College in 1929 before entering the lumber business. He was a member of the Nebraska Republican Committee and Republican National Committee in the 1950s; in 1954, he was an unsuccessful primary candidate for United States Senate.

Martin ran for Congress in 1960, defeating freshman Democrat Donald McGinley by a slim margin. He served as minority chairman of House Rules Committee and was also a member of the Education and Labor Committee. In 1974, he was a floor leader in the confirmation of Nelson Rockefeller, his Dartmouth classmate, as Vice President of the United States.

After leaving Congress, Martin became a member of the Nebraska State College Board and was a visiting professor. In 1980, he served as Nebraska chairman for the unsuccessful presidential bid of George H.W. Bush.

Martin died in his hometown of Kearney after suffering from pneumonia at age 89.

David Edward Martin (born 22 January 1986 in Romford, London Borough of Havering, East London), is a young goalkeeper with Liverpool. He signed for the Reds from Milton Keynes Dons on January 13 2006, after a successful trial period. He had played 25 games for the Dons, making his debut in 2004. Before that he played for Wimbledon and was a youth-team player with Tottenham Hotspur where he originally played as defender.

He was an unused substitute in Liverpool's League Cup game against Reading on October 25 2006 and has been capped by England as an Under-20 international; And more recently appearing on the bench in place of second - choice goalkeeper Charles Itandje.

He is the son of former West Ham United player, Alvin Martin.

Martin was signed by Accrington Stanley on loan for a month on February 23 2007. However, within five minutes of his debut, Martin succumbed to an ankle injury which ruled him out of the rest of his loan spell and he returned to Liverpool. He later returned to Accrington Stanley on-loan for the rest of the season after regaining his fitness.

David John Pattison Martin (born 5 February, 1945) is a British politician who served as the Conservative Member of Parliament for Portsmouth South from 1987 until 1997. He stood again at the 2001 general election in the seat of Rugby and Kenilworth but was unsuccessful.

David Martin (September 7 1639- September 9 1721) a learned French Protestant theologian, was born at Revel, in the diocese of Lavaur.

He was educated at Montauban, and at the academy of the reformed at Nîmes. He afterwards studied divinity at Puy-Laurent, whither the academy of Montauban had been removed. Having been admitted to the ministry in 1663, he settled as pastor with the church of Esperance, in the diocese of Castres. In 1670 he accepted an invitation to the church of La Caune, in the same diocese, where he officiated till the revocation of the edict of Nantes, in 1685.
