David Lloyd Wolper (born January 11, 1928 in New York City, New York) is one of the most successful and influential producers in the entertainment industry, both in movies and, mostly, television, responsible for shows such as Roots, The Thorn Birds, North & South, L.A. Confidential, and Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. He also produced produced numerous documentaries and documentary series like Biography (TV series--1961-63), The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich (TV), Appointment with Destiny (TV series), This is Elvis, Imagine: John Lennon, and others.
For his work on television, he had received his own "Star" on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
