Dave Wilson (ca.1932-June 30, 2002) was an American television director, best known for his work as the director of the NBC program Saturday Night Live from 1975 to 1986 and 1989 to 1995. Wilson retired at the end of the show's 20th season, and also appeared on-screen as part of comedy sketches that took place in the show's control room.
During his SNL tenure, Wilson was nominated for an Emmy award for the Paul Simon episode during SNL's second year.

David "Dave" Carlton Wilson (born April 27, 1959 in Anaheim, California) is a former professional American football player in the NFL who played with the New Orleans Saints from 1981-1988. A 6'3", 206 lbs. quarterback from the University of Illinois, Wilson was selected by the Saints in the first round of the 1981 supplemental draft.

His most memorable run was with "Saturday Night Live" (1975) from the beginning until his retirement just a couple of years before his death. His son Tommy Wilson went to work in the family trade for SNL. Dave Wilson received an Emmy Award for an Episode of SNL in its second season which featured singer/songwriter, Paul Simon. Before his stint with SNL, Wilson had covered the gamut from the 'Miss America Pageant' to all manner of Live Arts performances in the 60s on NBC at a time when Network presentations of such work was top notch and memorable. Fans of SNL will remember that shots of him behind the control board were frequently played for laughs as parts of skits or gags. He was a generous and inspiring man. He is survived by his wife, Roberta Wilson, his three adult children, Tommy, Danny and Michael.
