Clueless is a 1995 comedy film loosely based on Emma by Jane Austen and set in a Beverly Hills high school. It was written and directed by Amy Heckerling and produced by Scott Rudin. Filmed over a span of a few weeks in early 1995, the movie was released in the United States on July 19, 1995. It stars Alicia Silverstone, Paul Rudd, Jeremy Sisto, Stacey Dash, Donald Faison, Brittany Murphy and Dan Hedaya.
The film, which in many ways defined the generation it portrayed and has come to hold iconic status in its genre, spun off a television show and a series of books.

A woman leaves a "Dear John" note for her lover and departs their flat. Later that day, burglars break in. A diffident thief, more interested in the ambience of the place than the swag, falls for the woman when he sees her photo. Trouble is, when he swipes her picture to put in his wallet, he leaves the billfold in the flat. When he goes back to retrieve it, the man of the house has returned and thinks his girlfriend has taken all his stuff.
