Clash by Night (1952) is a black-and-white film noir drama directed by Fritz Lang and starring Barbara Stanwyck, Paul Douglas, Marilyn Monroe and Robert Ryan. The movie was based on the play by Clifford Odets, adapted by writer Alfred Hayes. This was the first film in which Monroe was credited before the movie's title.
During the shooting, the now famous naked calendar photos of Monroe surfaced and reporters hounded the actress during the filming of the movie.
Mae Doyle comes back to her hometown a cynical woman. Her brother Joe fears that his love, fish cannery worker Peggy, may wind up like Mae. Mae marries Jerry and has a baby; she is happy but restless, drawn to Jerry's friend Earl. Written by Ed Stephan
A bus carrying prisoners on their way to jail, is hijacked by a gang, who want to free one of the passengers. The rest of the prisoners are locked in a petrol soaked barn, and warned not to escape. When the police find the body of the freed prisoner, dead in a car crash, they try and backtrack, to find the bus, and the rest of the prisoners, before the barn catches fire.
