Christopher Charles Collins, (born Christopher Lawrence Latta, also known as Chris Latta; August 30, 1949 – June 12, 1994), was an American actor, voice artist and comedian, perhaps best known as the voice of Cobra Commander on the G.I. Joe animated series and as the voice of Starscream in the first Transformers series. He is also noted among Star Trek fans for his guest roles on The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, along with many other TV shows and a number of films. In addition, he had a successful stand-up comedy career.
Formerly stand-up comic, Toured in late 80s early 90s. Funny material, and a good friend of actor Stephen Sisk.
He was the original voice of Nuclear-plant-owner C. Montgomery Burns on "The Simpsons", before circumstances forced him to turn the role over to Harry Shearer after the first few apearances. Shearer modeled his performance after Latta's, and was able to seamlessly assume the role.
Also originally provided the voice of Moe the bartender on "The Simpsons".
Was a prominent voice actor in the 1980s, most notably doing multiple voices for "GI Joe" (where he voiced the evil Cobra Commander and the heroic grunt Gung Ho, among others) and "Transformers" (where he voiced the treacherous Starscream, Reflector, and the Autobot Wheeljack, among others).
