Elmer Figueroa Arce (born June 28 1968 in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico), best known under the stage name Chayanne, is a Puerto Rican Latin pop singer. He is one of Puerto Rico's most successful pop stars, selling over 10 million records worldwide, and having nine number one singles on the Billboard Hot Latin Chart. His artistic name comes from a western television series, “Cheyenne" that his mother used to watch. This TV series, starring Clint Walker, was transmitted from 1955 to 1963.

Chayanne (born June 28, 1968) is a Latin Pop singer who was born as Elmer Figueroa de Arse in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico. Figueroa began using the artistic name of “Chayanne” when he was a little kid. He auditioned for Menudo, but was told that at the time that he was too young for the group. He didn’t give up and he heard that Titi Soto was trying to create a new group that would compete with Menudo, and so he went and tried out.
