Charles Bergstresser (Wikipedia.org)

Charles Bergstresser (1859 – ?) was an American journalist and, with Charles Dow and Edward Jones, one of the founders of Dow Jones & Company at 15 Wall Street in 1882.

A Pennsylvania Dutchman, born into a large family in bucolic Lykens Valley. He worked while attending Lafayette College and saved much of what he earned. After graduation in 1881, he moved to New York City. It was Bergstresser who bankrolled the cash-starved Dow and Jones, beginning in 1882. However, was not interested in working for Dow and Jones. He wanted to be the silent partner.
