Chain Reaction is an American game show created by Bob Stewart, in which players compete to form chains composed of two-word phrases. To date, the show has existed in three incarnations: Bill Cullen hosted the original series on NBC from January 14, 1980-June 20, 1980 save for two weeks, when Geoff Edwards subbed while Cullen sub-hosted Password Plus. The second version aired on the USA cable network from September 29, 1986 to December 27, 1991 and was hosted by Blake Emmons and later by Edwards. Dylan Lane currently hosts a version airing on GSN, which premiered on August 1, 2006. It currently airs Tuesdays through Saturdays at 10:30 p.m. ET.
Chain Reaction is a 1996 American film starring Keanu Reeves, Rachel Weisz, Morgan Freeman and Fred Ward. It presents a fictional account of the invention of bubble fusion using sonoluminescence (the emission of short bursts of light from imploding bubbles in a liquid when excited by sound).
An earthquake in rural Australia causes a dangerous leak at WALDO, a nuclear waste storage facility. Heinrich Schmidt, an engineer badly hurt in the accident, knows that the leak will poison the groundwater for hundreds of miles around, and wants to warn the public. His boss, however, is only interested in protecting himself, and believes the accident should be covered up, even at the expense of thousands of lives. Heinrich escapes from the facility, but is too badly injured to get very far. Lost in the woods and suffering from amnesia, he is rescued by Larry, an auto mechanic on vacation with his wife, Carmel. As Heinrich tries to piece together his memories of what happened, his boss' thugs are quickly closing in on the trio. Written by Jean-Marc Rocher

Chain Reaction was hosted by Bill Cullen in 1980, but went off the air that same year. In 1986, it was revived as "The New Chain Reaction" in 1986 with host Geoff Edwards. It ran until 1991. Two teams of two players (two celebrities and two contestants) competed. Each team was composed of a giver and a guesser. The giver could give the letter in the next word of the chain to either his/her partner or opponent. A correct guess won the appropriate number of points for the round and retained control, while an incorrect guess passes control to the opponents. If you give a letter to your opponent and he/she doesn't get the word, you get to go again. In the first round, the first four words were worth 10 points each, while the last word was worth 20 points. In the second round, words were worth 20-30 points, and the third round 30-50 points. Also in later rounds, a cash word was in the chain worth $500 to the team who guessed it. The first team to reach 300 points won the game and advanced to the bonus round. Written by whistledog
